Digi-Sandbox Program   Ages: 3-5

  • Provides the building blocks for children from 3-5 to inspire an interest in and competence in digital technology and the foundations of computer science
  • Provides workshops, events and camps for children
  • Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic all of our programs will now be taught virtually with a practical approach that ensures the students are learning through play, using toys and simple household objects and through games, activities that instill the relevant concepts

Digital Foundations seeks to foster an interest in technology. The Digital Sandbox program provides an introduction to concepts that are the building blocks of programming languages such as computer logic, data structures and algorithms and concepts related to programming procedures. These concepts are introduced in small digestible play based sessions that also try to incorporate outdoor activities..for example using a scavenger hunt to teach the concept of clusters as the children gather like objects.

Digital Foundations is predominantly preoccupied with fostering the critical thinking skills that are key to elegant and responsible digital design as part of delivering the Sandbox program. There is therefore a de-emphasis on coding; coding merely being the syntax for programming languages and is a component that can always be learnt.

We also would like to ensure an ethical and responsible approach to the introduction of technology; emphasizing aspects such as screen time and engaging parents so that the inevitable journey of discovery within the digital world is one that is carefully and responsibly curated.
